good morning! it's my turn again for papertrey ink's make it monday video series. like my first one i've got dies on the mind, but this time, i challenge you to use your watercolors with die cut stencils...
it started with this hello card i posted earlier this summer. i was playing around with my watercolors, testing out different looks. i'd watercolored die cuts before, but wanted to figure out how i could use stencils for a colorful word that i could stamp right over.
the first card in this post is the card i created in the video, using the word itself as a masking type stencil, painting over and around it, leaving the word white. here, i used the open word to paint a card similar to the original hello version above. when you create one word stencil, you'll have two different pieces to use!
of course you're not limited to words - this is a great technique for getting quick patterned color using a cover plate as your stencil, like this card using modern cross quilt!
the text blocks dies are also a great option for this look - quick and easy and they really pop. i wish i had them all for a full set in a rainbow of color. wouldn't that make a great gift?
so here's the video - please ignore my awkward ramblings and ummms, lol! - and then break out your dies and watercolors or ink pad inks and link up over on nichole's blog. as usual, there's a pti gift certificate up for grabs!!
happy painting & good luck!
