we've made it to day five of the papertey ink august countdown - new stamps will be available tomorrow, august 15! today, i wanted to focus on using the borders to build patterned focal elements. i've created cards with my patterned pieces here, but they could also be used on gift bags or tags or cut into journaling cards for your pocket pages. above i alternated the ghost border with the chain in limeaid ice and black. i couldn't resist a little pop of purple for the sentiment, a snip of the boo to you! caution tape, strategically placed over a section of chain.
for my next pattern, i alternated the ghosts with a caution tape in purple. i wanted a bit more of a color pop, so i used the back of the caution tape stamp in a lighter shade of purple to stamp over the caution tape to kind of color it in - similar to stamping it on colored card stock without the extra bulk and one of those tricks that really highlight the versatility of clear stamps. a happy halloween from keep it simple: halloween finishes it off perfectly. that little set is a match made in heaven for haunted borders!
and finally, rows of jack o' lanterns! i thought about alternating them with something else, but i really just loved the pop of lots of jacks smiling back. so i kept it simple and layered the patterned panel on black for contrast and interest, and added yet another sentiment from keep it simple: halloween. doesn't it make you want to grin along with them?! well, that's it for my regular countdown posts - tomorrow is release day! i have at least one other design that's been brewing in my brain, so check in for a bonus post in the morning. but first, today is design team group post day, so head over to nichole for scoop and links! lizzie's got a post up too. i'll be clicking right along with you...
