the papertrey ink august countdown continues! today, i'm featuring my favorite of the haunted borders - the two caution tape designs. i got my inspiration for these from a haunted house caution tape i use to decorate my door and gate every year. i thought it would be really fun to have a miniature version for cards and spooky treats. above, i paired the eat at your own risk tape with a ghost and pumpkin cut away from their respective borders and a happy halloween sentiment selectively and creatively stamped to fit on a small circle with a graphic twist.
next up, i continued with the same color scheme and cutout theme to create a cutaway ghost card. first, i drew a freehand ghost stencil to fit edge to edge on a quarter panel. then, i traced and cut it out of a smokey shadow card stock panel of the same size, and assembled the edges into place on a white card base, leaving the negative image of the ghost shining through! i added punched circles for the face, and both die cut caution tapes for a pop of color and haunted fun. to finish it off, i selectively inked and stamped "happy halloween" in the lower right corner in order to have it on two lines. add the boo'ing poem on the inside and you have the perfect ghost to leave on a neighbor's doorstep with a bag of sneaky treats!
and last, another fun boo to you! card to add to a spooky treat. this time, i used masking to build a pattern of criss cross tapes. it's a great alternative to die cuts for making the tapes look layered on top of one another without adding bulk or overstamping and mixing the colors. another sentiment from keep it simple: halloween is the perfect finishing touch - this set is very handy! so, how about some treat packaging tomorrow? until then, click on over to nichole for the monthly moments: august scoop and links to the team's projects - lizzie's sharing with her new product as well. have fun...
