welcome to day one of the papertrey ink august countdown - and a first look at my new pieces of confetti stamp set, haunted borders. today is all about the ghost border. i didn't intend to focus solely on the ghosts today or limit my supplies, but i got on a clean and simple kick (surprise, surprise!) and it just happened. one border + one sentiment + two inks and coordinating card stock = three clean and simple, quick and easy designs. above i stamped the border on either side of the sentiment for a super simple look, slightly overlapping the edges for interest. the trick to stamping the two sides along the same line was using a bock with a grid and lining it up with the bottom edge of the paper, although i think it would also look good offset on purpose.
next, i stamped the border three times, staggered, overstamping the sentiment at the bottom right. the dips between the ghosts heads is a perfect fit with the lower edge of the ghosts for lining them up - no stamp positioner needed! a rounded corner at the top right and a purple card base are the perfect finishing touches.
and last, two rows of the ghost border on a diagonal, with the sentiment again overstamped slightly at the bottom right. i actually found that it was easier to stamp the sentiment first for this design, which allowed me to then pick a good place for the ghosts to float across the words. i actually tried to add embellishments to all three of these cards, but i kept coming back to clean and simple, so i left them alone. i really like that the images and colors take center stage! speaking of center stage, be sure to check out nichole's blog (plus those of heather, danielle, dawn, laurie, and betsy) to see what's in the spotlight today - lizzie and erin are also sharing their new product as well. and definitely stop by here again tomorrow for day two...
enjoy!
